ZF's Bold Leap Into E-Mobility Leadership Is Our Opportunity

Recently, ZF announced a $500 million investment in a first-of-its-kind flex manufacturing facility in Gray Court, SC, positioning ZF and Upstate SC as leaders in e-mobility technologies and paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future. The expansion will create 400 new jobs.


The flex manufacturing facility will produce both internal combustion engine (ICE) and e-mobility components, demonstrating ZF's commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility. ZF will launch production of the 8HP Gen4 PHEV transmission, the 4th generation 8-Speed Plug-In Hybrid Transmission on the BMW 7 Series and X5.


Beyond ZF, this announcement creates opportunities for Upstate SC's entrepreneurial community to supply materials, services, and expertise to this and other advanced manufacturing facilities Building our capabilities in developing advanced manufacturing technologies can propel Upstate SC into the ranks of top innovation hubs like Austin, TX, and Raleigh, NC.

ZF's aims to be climate neutral in its production processes and products by 2040, aligning with Upstate SC's growing focus on clean energy initiatives. With Gray Court serving as a shining example of these efforts, the region is poised to become a leader in sustainable manufacturing.
